Over the course of the 2014 NFL season we've seen a number of rookies who look like they'll be entertaining for the next decade or so, including: Mike Evans, Odell Beckham Jr., Sammy Watkins, and a bunch of others we disrespectfully didn't care to list. But one guy we're yet to see in any sort of extended capacity (besides Johnny Manziel, whom you only have to wait a few more days for), is No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney.
It's a real bummer to be deprived of viewing such a freak talent (not to mention how Texans fans must feel) as Clowney has been limited to just parts of four games this season (and has yet to record a sack). But now we know that it'll be a bit longer before we have any chance of seeing him on the field-turf again. That's because tonight Adam Schefter broke this news regarding Clowney, ending his rookie season prematurely and even putting the opener of his second year in doubt:
For now most casual fans only know Clowney for popping off another dude's helmet in the 2013 Outback Bowl (which we're not even going to link to, since we know you've seen it before). And unless he gets on the field again (you know, at some point) it could be the only Clowney highlight many of us remember twenty years from now.
That's worst case scenario of course, but we will note that microfracture surgery does at least have some history of wrecking havoc on the careers of former No. 1 picks.
