Liverpool have turned to the Boston Red Sox to finally cure Daniel Sturridge.

The striker will spend Christmas in the United States in a bid to regain full fitness. Sturridge has been referred to a specialist doctor at the Red Sox and it's expected that Sturridge will receive unique treatment usually reserved for baseball stars.

Sturridge hasn't appeared for Liverpool since a 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at the end of August. The 25-year-old originally sustained a thigh injury while on duty with England the following week and received a further injury in November.

He found the back of the net 25 times with Liverpool in the 2013/14 season and the Merseysiders have desperately missed their star striker so far this term, having scored only 19 goals in 16 Premier League games.
