LeBron James Doesn't Allow His Sons to Play Football

Basketball, baseball, and soccer are the only options.

There are a lot of parents out there who don't allow their kids to play football in 2014. According to an ESPN report that dropped back in November of last year, Pop Warner participation has dropped about 10 percent over the last few years, mostly because so many parents are worried about their kids being subjected to football-related injuries like concussions. And apparently, that includes celebrity parents, too.

Last night, ESPN's Chris Broussard took to Twitter to reveal that LeBron James recently told him that his two sons LeBron Jr.—who is already becoming a star on the basketball court—and Bryce are not allowed to play football. Broussard didn't provide a lengthy explanation as to why LBJ doesn't let his kids play football. But he did say that LeBron only allows his sons to play basketball, baseball, and soccer:

I was surprised Friday when LeBron told me he doesn't let his sons play football. Only basketball, baseball & soccer in his house.

As we mentioned, LeBron obviously isn't alone when it comes to holding his kids back from playing football. But the fact that he doesn't permit his kids to play is a pretty big blow to the sport, and we wouldn't be surprised if other parents out there used LeBron's attitude towards football to steer their kids away from playing it.
