Kobe Bryant Isn't Going to Ask the Lakers to Trade Him This Season

At least Lakers fans have that going for them.

At this point, the Lakers' 2014-15 NBA season is pretty much over, isn't it? Sure, the season just started. And sure, there's a chance the Lakers could play better than they have so far in the coming weeks. But they're 0-4 right now, and it certainly doesn't look like they're going to spend a single day above .500 this season.

Despite that, Lakers fans do have one thing going for them. That one thing? That Kobe Bryant is not going to ask for a trade this season. During an interview with Yahoo! Sports yesterday, Kobe revealed that, while he knows that people are already speculating about his future with the Lakers, he's not going to ask out of L.A., regardless of how bad things get.

"I hear the chatter of Kobe should ask out and he should go and play for a contender in this latter stage of his career," he said. "But that's not what I do. I'm extremely loyal to the Lakers. I believe in fighting through the tough times as well as enjoying the good times. It's my responsibility to get us to be the best that we can be. It's important that we approach that on a day-to-day basis."

The Lakers have never been 0-4 on Kobe's watch. Hell, the Lakers haven't been 0-4 since 1957 (!). So we wouldn't blame Kobe one bit for wanting to leave. But it sounds like he's going to be a Laker for life, even if L.A. ends up going 0-82 this year.

"I've enjoyed a great amount of success here," he said. "You can't just enjoy the successful times and then run away from the bad ones. No, I don't even think about [leaving]. I'm a Laker."

We'll see if he's still saying that in February. But for now, you can end all the speculation. Kobe isn't going anywhere.
