According to popular boxing promoter Bob Arum, HBO and Showtime are in talks to negotiate a joint pay-per-view event that would allow them to broadcast a long-awaited bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in 2015

"The networks are now already talking," Arum told GMA News, adding that he was "optimistic" about the fight happening. Arum also mentioned that, if the talks are finalized, then Mayweather and Pacquiao may look to stage the fight in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX.

"Anything could happen," said Pacquiao, echoing Arum's statement. "For as long as I am still in boxing, and [Mayweather] is still here, there's always a chance that we could fight together."

However, boxing fans have been teased about the possibility of a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight for years now, so be sure to take this news with a grain of salt. Is it a coincidence that Arum is dropping this news on the same week that Pacquiao has a fight scheduled? Well, given that Arum is Pacquiao's promoter, probably not.

Whether these talks actually come to fruition remains to be seen, so we won't rule anything out. But it's equally possible that this rumor could just be Arum's ploy to garner interest in Pacquiao's upcoming bout against Chris Algieri.
