Carson Palmer had to be carted off the field during the 4th quarter of the Cardinals’ game against the Rams with an apparent non-contact injury to his left knee. It looked like the quarterback—who on Friday signed a $50 million, three-year extension with $20.5 million guaranteed—did something to his knee as he tried to avoid a sack on this play:

1.

Palmer (25-for-36, 241 yards, 1 INT) hadn’t done much as the Cardinals trailed 14-10 at the time of his injury, but they have since come back to take a 31-14 lead with Drew Stanton at the helm.

We’ll have more on this as the specific nature of his injury becomes available.

UPDATE: Multiple outlets are reporting that the Cardinals fear Palmer tore his ACL, the same one he injured in the 2006 playoffs. He'll need to have an MRI to confirm, however, so the 8-1 Cardinals and their fans still have a glimmer of hope.
