Denver Broncos practice squad safety John Boyett was cut today after a Wednesday morning incident involving a scuffle with a cab driver. According to Denver police, Boyett, who was intoxicated at the time, punched and head-butted a cab driver before stealing a shovel from a nearby construction site and trying to bury himself in mulch. Killer hiding spot, dude.

Based on the story from the Denver Post, Boyett comes off as a tad unhinged. After being arrested by the cops, Boyett "told arresting officers to 'contact his boss 'John Elway'' before repeatedly slamming his head into a patrol car window while yelling and spitting". Wow. How drunk was this guy?

Pretty drunk, as it turns out!

Before his arrest, Boyett had been drinking at the Sports Book Bar & Grill, where a bartender and patrons said he was highly intoxicated and making threats, police say.

Police said Boyett tried to take food off another patron's plate and was asked to leave when he became agitated, threatening to punch a bartender and refusing to pay his tab.

Two police officers responded and called Boyett a cab. About five minutes later, the driver called authorities to report he had been assaulted by Boyett on the 9700 block of East Arapahoe Road, records say.

Yes, you read that correctly: Police officers tried to help Boyett out by calling him a cab, only to arrest him just minutes later. SMH.

Sadly, this was Boyett's second alcohol-related arrested within the last 13 months. Formerly with the Indianapolis Colts, Boyett was arrested on September 2, 2013, on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Best of luck to Boyett on his next step, whatever and wherever that may be.
