Spurs' Boris Diaw Could Make Up to $500,000 in Bonuses If He Doesn't Become Overweight

If he can keep his weight down, Boris Diaw stands to make a lot of additional money.

None

According to ESPN.com, Boris Diaw is 250 pounds and San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich wants to keep him at that weight. Popovich and the rest of the Spurs front office are so serious about keeping Diaw's weight down that they have included a clause in his contract which would award him up to $500,000 to stay in shape.

Here's the breakdown of the deal from ESPN's Amin Elhassan

• Most importantly, Diaw’s deal features $500,000 in annual performance bonuses in the form of a weight clause. Each season, he gets:

• $150,000 for weighing less than or equal to 254 pounds on Oct. 25 • $150,000 for weighing less than or equal to 254 pounds on the first Tuesday after the All-Star Game • $200,000 for weighing less than or equal to 254 pounds on April 1

Nothing could be more of a motivator than the almighty dollar. But hey, if all else fails, Diaw can crack the first two challenges, receive a bonus of $300,000 and say it was a good run while it lasted. Either way, we understand Boris because food is delicious.
