Back in early August, Jon "Bones" Jones got into a fight with Daniel Cormier during the UFC 178 media day. And while it appeared as though the fight was exactly what the UFC would have wanted to happen—it helped them get a ton of publicity for UFC 178—the Nevada Athletic Commission just decided to punish Jones for his role in it. They fined him $50,000 and told him that he will be required to do 40 hours of community service in Las Vegas because of the brawl.

And unfortunately for Jones, that's not all. In addition to those punishments, the UFC fighter also just revealed that he lost his Nike sponsorship a short time after the fight with Cormier took place and missed out on the chance to sign a six-figure deal with another potential sponsor. So all in all, his brawl with Cormier hurt him immensely.

"I made us all look bad," he said earlier today during a hearing, "and as a champion, it was a terrible thing."

If you somehow managed to miss the brawl, you can watch it below. The Jones/Cormier fight that was supposed to take place at UFC 178 ended up getting canceled because of an injury that Jones sustained. But the two fighters are now scheduled to meet up at UFC 182 on January 3, 2015.

Anyone else excited to see what happens at UFC 182 media day?

UPDATE:

For his role in the UFC 178 media day brawl, Cormier was fined $9,000 and given 20 hours of community service.
