Yesterday, Floyd Mayweather criticized the NFL for suspending Ray Rice "indefinitely" for punching his then-fiancée Janay Palmer in an elevator inside of the Revel Atlantic City hotel and casino back in February. But today, Mayweather is backtracking from his original comments and apologizing for making them. Reason being, he now claims that he didn't actually watch the tape that TMZ Sports released on Monday before speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

"I was just getting word from people that there was a video out there," he said. "I didn't know because I'm training for a fight. If I offended anyone, I apologize."

It's worth nothing that Mayweather did say that he had seen the video yesterday. But we'll give him the benefit of the doubt here. Next time, he should just go with a simple "no comment" instead of answering a question like the one that he answered about Rice with a lengthy response.
