Because he's currently dealing with child abuse-related charges in Texas, Adrian Peterson is on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt List right now and won't be able to play for the Vikings again until he works out his legal issues. But that isn't stopping him from providing his Minnesota teammates with some motivation.

On Sunday afternoon, a few minutes before the start of the Falcons/Vikings game, Peterson sent a motivational text message to Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and asked him to read it to the team. And while no one has specified what Peterson said within the text message, the Vikings responded to it by going out and beating the Falcons 41-28.

"One thing that I took away from that message was: 'Play each down like it's your last because you never know when it's going to be your last opportunity,'" rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said after the game. "Today, I think the guys got that message pretty well. We went out, we fought today, and it was just a great overall team effort."

Whatever AP said obviously worked. So we wouldn't be surprised if he continued to send texts to his teammates in the coming weeks. If he can't help his team on the field, the least he can do is provide a little bit of motivation from the sidelines.
