According to ESPN’s Arash Markazi, Shelly Sterling will still have a “large and visible presence with the Clippers,” despite the official sale of the franchise to Steve Ballmer, which occurred earlier today. Ballmer’s $2 billion purchase of the Clips had been in limbo after Donald Sterling attempted to use the justice system to block the deal, but that ended when a judge ruled in Ballmer’s favor today. Markazi tweeted a list of rights and privileges Shelly Sterling will retain, including the title of “Clipper’s Number 1 Fan,” as well as an entitlement of up to 10 percent of the Clippers, or $200 million, to be set aside for a charitable foundation that Shelly will run.
