Geno Smith may have a little something going for him over with the Jets. He did have some sparks of brilliance here and there, but none of them completely overshadows his rendition of the buttfumble against the Titans.

But the Jets did finish 8-8, so Smith does get kudos for not allowing the season to be a total disaster. Saving his team from not becoming a total joke isn't really something to put on the resume for the Top 5 conversation, but Smith is keeping the faith. The quarterback thinks he'll be one of the best in the league even though he was ranked the worst starting quarterback in a recent ESPN poll.

“The thing about it is, you have to climb up,” he said to ESPN. “If I’m No. 32, by this time next year or the year after, I expect to be in the top 5.”

Smith also said he had to prove people wrong, which is respectable. But is Smith being Top 5 in the league likely? Say Peyton Manning and Tom Brady decide to retire in 2016. That still leaves Drew BreesAaron RodgersEli ManningMatt RyanCam Newton, and at least five more ahead of them. You can even argue that Michael Vick, his expected backup, is better than him. Erm...maybe manage your expectations a little bit. Or maybe he's just had a rough rookie season and is really the Jets' hope. Reach for the stars so if you fall you'll land on less turnovers.
