There’s no sense competing against yourself, and Tesla realizes this. The burgeoning EV company supplies motors and batteries to Toyota for use in their California-only Rav4 EV, but the deal seems to be on the ropes.
At the end of a corporate report from Tesla, the company hinted that both companies would end their all-electric drivetrain partnership as the current Rav4 EV model phases out at the end of the year.
It’s no secret that Tesla hopes to rollout the Model X soon, a car that would be in direct competition with Toyota’s electric crossover. This comes shortly after Toyota announced new lease incentives to push slow sales of the all-electric EV.
