SRT: Keep the Jeep, Cut the Chrysler

The Jeep Cherokee SRT will live on, but the Chrysler 300 SRT will not.

A few days ago we got the news about the death of the SRT brand as its own entity, more or less completely out of the blue. We knew that the Viper would return to its Dodge doghouse, but what of the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT and Chrysler 300 SRT.

Sources at Car and Driver have confirmed that the Cherokee SRT will soldier on, while the 300 SRT is said to get the chopping block, which makes sense given that the company already offers the similar Charger SRT. At the end of the day, Chrysler needs to turn profits and clearing out unnecessary overlap is a way to pinch pennies.
