According to Marc Stein of ESPN, Kevin Durant will be named the 2013-14 NBA MVP next week. In a season where Durant posted a career-high in points (32.0) and assists (5.5) per game, as well as putting together an impressive streak of scoring 25 points or more in 41 straight games, this news shouldn't come as a surprise. Even LeBron Jamessaw this coming back in early April. However, with reports surfacing which confirm the inevitable, ESPN's Michael Wallace caught up with LeBron to get his reaction. Here's what he had to say:
LeBron on reports Durant wins MVP. "Kudos to him. Much respect. He deserved it. He had a big-time MVP season."
Always the consummate professional, LeBron gave the textbook response. But you know, deep down, The King wanted to say something like, "you may have won the battle, KD, but I'll win the war!" Or, at least, that's what we would've wanted to hear.
