Hyundai brought a few vehicles to the 2014 Busan Auto Show in South Korea overnight, most of which won’t be sold here and don’t get our hearts pumping. This – the Hyundai Veloster Midship – does however.

Effectively, it’s a Veloster on steroids. The Midship packs lightweight suspension, race-ready ground effects, a massive wing and – oh yeah – a 296-horsepower 2.0L engine mounted in the middle of the car. If that doesn’t sound nutty enough, the turbocharged powerplant sends all of that power straight to the rear wheels too.

Sadly and unsurprisingly, the concept won’t reach production. Hyundai’s High Performance Team, the ones who built the i20 WRC car, developed the Midship to test the possibilities of the Veloster chassis. Looks thoroughly tested, now tell us where to send our money and build one, please.
