Meb Keflezighi Became the First American to Win the Boston Marathon in More Than 30 Years Today

Marathon runner Meb Keflezighi won the Boston Marathon today, making him the first American to win it since 1983.

For the last couple of hours, the name Meb Keflezighi has been trending on Twitter. And it's for a very good reason.

Earlier today, Keflezighi became the first American since 1983 to win the Boston Marathon when he crossed the finish line on Boylston Street in Boston and finished the 26.2-mile race in two hours, eight minutes, and 37 seconds. It was an extremely close race, too, as Kenyan runner Wilson Chebet finished just 11 seconds behind Keflezighi. And almost immediately, Keflezighi received an outpouring of support from people on Twitter who applauded him for doing something that no other American marathon runner has done in more than 30 years, just one year after the horrific Boston Marathon bombing:
