The FAA is Putting the Kibosh on a Beer Delivery Drone Service

The Man doesn't like fun.

We're used to the government being a buzz kill, but not quite this literally. The FAA has sent a cease and desist letter to a local brewery in Minnesota that began delivering beer with drones. Lakemaid Brewing Company only got in one flight before being hit with the bad news.

The idea came to Lakemaid owners after watching an episode of 60 Minutes that covered Amazon's development of delivery drones. They decided to develop their own drone and made a successful first delivery, which you can watch below, to a nearby ice fishing shack. Unfortunately this violated the FAA's rule against using drones for commercial purposes, a rule that'll have to change for Amazon's own service goes live. Until that change happens we'll have to go back to a world where we can only get beer by physically going to a store or bar.

Life isn't fair.
