Doug McDermott Becomes the Eight NCAA Player in Division-I History to Break 3,000-Point Mark (Video)

He's definitely not No. 1 all-time though.

While eyes were on Phil Jackson, Doug McDermott was busy making history. The Creighton star became the eighth player in college basketball history to surpass the 3,000-point mark with the above shot. He passed the mark during a crazy 45-point performance against Providence. Creighton also walked away with an 88-73 victory.

McDermott is now No. 7 on the all-time scoring list. He's little over 200 away from all-time leading scorer* Freeman Williams.

*That's "No. 1" in terms of scoring records that can be reasonably beaten. Who really needs to mention no one's messing with Pete Maravich's 3,667 at this point?
