Well, Wes Welker and the Broncos have a similar idea that's actually useful. Welker missed the last three regular season games thanks to a concussion, so he's wearing this larger helmet to provide extra protection. This way Broncos fans can't use the "We didn't have Welker" excuse if they lose again to the Chargers.
