If you see a car parked on your property that is not yours, there are several things you could choose to do. You could ignore it. You could try to find the owner of the car and tell him to move it. You could leave a note on the window asking whoever owns it not to park on your property again. Or, if you're feeling particularly bold, you could shoot it. But just a warning: Shooting the car might not be the best idea!

An 81-year-old man from Bay City, Mich. found that out the hard way last June when he opened fire on a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu that he thought was parked on his property. As it turned out, the car was actually on public property. But the man, identified as Richard O'Hara, shot at it with a .45-caliber pistol anyway. And as a result, he was arrested and charged with several gun-related crimes, including brandishing a firearm in public. He had to make an appearance in court this week and could have received jail time for his actions.

Fortunately, it doesn't sound like O'Hara is going to do any hard time behind bars for shooting the car. He was able to reach a plea deal with the prosecutors and he should get off with probation and a fine. But let this be a lesson to everyone else: Shooting at parked cars is not OK. And if you're not an 81-year-old man, you're probably going to do time if you do it. So don't.
