Force fields, son. The technology may no longer be a Star Wars fantasy and soon reach your car. That is if you're driving a McLaren. Chief designer Frank Stephenson has hinted at developing a new system to replace windshield wipers, and APPY Geek is reporting that system might involve ultrasound waves.
Thirty kHz waves would be sent across the windshield to create a force field. With the waves in the way, rain, bugs, snow, etc. would never even touch your windshield. Beyond being Star-Wars-level awesome, this new system would mean we'd never have to replace windshield wipers again. Here's to hoping force fields make it not only to McLarens, but to cars we can actually afford.
