49ers linebacker Ahmad Brooks was right. The flag that he received for making what appeared to be a perfectly legal hit on Drew Brees on Sunday afternoon was "bullshit." Anyone who has seen the play knows that and knows that Brooks shouldn't have been flagged for the hard hit.
Well, almost everyone know that. Because while we would still contend that Brooks didn't deserve to be penalized for the hit, the NFL just announced that they are hitting Brooks with more than just a flag. They're also sending him a $16,000 fine for hitting Brees above the shoulders. Brooks can appeal the fine from the NFL. But it's highly unlikely that he would win the appeal.
With that in mind, does Ray Lewis' offer from the other night still stand? Brooks could sure use his $8,000 right now.
