New York is considering bumping the highway speed limit to 75 mph.

Some people are going to freak out about this and claim that everybody is going to die because of it, but we would point them to the dozens of noteworthy studies that have shown that raising the speedlimit can improve safety on highways. The Law abiders and near law abiders will still travel at or just above the limit, while those who just don't give any fucks will still just travel at the same speed they have been. The result is that there is less of a spread regarding how quickly people are driving, which greatly reduces the chances of an accident.

We've observed this in states like Utah (80mph) and Texas (85 mph), so lets all get where we're going sooner, and be safer doing it. Make it so, New York legislators.
