The man who jolted everyone by bolting from the league a mere 1,457 yards short of the all-time record. He was mum for years about what caused his abrupt retirement but eventually admitted he was sick of being on a perennial loser. Unfortunately (for Sanders), the season after he retired they made the playoffs and the year after that, they missed making it by a single game. His son Barry Sanders Jr. is a freshman on the Stanford University football team. Fifteen years after he jilted EA and forced them to put Dorsey Levens on the cover he won a fan vote (beating Adrian Peterson) to land on the front of Madden 25. If/when a satellite falls out of orbit and crushes him to death then we'll finally believe that the curse is, inarguably, real.
