During this past offseason, longtime Ravens center Matt Birk announced his retirement from the game of football. After winning a Super Bowl back in February, he thought it was the perfect time to end his 15-year career.

"It is a great way to end it," he said. "No one is entitled to a Super Bowl, certainly not me. But I'm so grateful and fortunate to be part of the team. It is a special team and the run that we made, the championship that we won is something I'll never forget."

But apparently, Birk did forget that, now that he's no longer running with the Ravens, he doesn't have to suit up for games anymore. So during the Ravens/Broncos game last night, Birk put up a photo on Instagram featuring him wearing a Ravens helmet and a Ravens jersey.

"Just watching the game," he wrote as the caption. "Ready if needed."

The Ravens sure could have used him. Even though he obviously didn't play defense, they could have used just about anyone last night when Peyton Manningput on his clinic.
