The Geno Smith era is here to stay. A short while ago, ESPN's Chris Mortensen revealed that Dr. James Andrews did find a labral tear in right shoulder of Mark Sanchez. Sanchez will take the next day or two to mull over his decision, but at this point, it seems as though surgery is the best option, given the extent of the injury, the organization's commitment to Smith and the fact that rehabbing could still land Mark on the injured reserve anyway.

As you may recall, Sanchez's injury occurred in the Jets' third preseason game against the Giants on a play where the 26-year-old quarterback should've never been on the field. Head coach Rex Ryan inexplicably sent out Sanchez early in the fourth quarter with the team's second-string offensive lineman. No word yet on Rex's reaction to the news, but as for Geno, be careful out there!
