Throughout his career, the defensive playbook on Rondo has always been to back off and make him take a jumper. Problem is, you can't do that anymore. According to hoopdata.com, he's averaged 38.7 percent shooting on shots 16-23 feet away from the basket for his career. That number jumped to a remarkable 48 percent this past season. For context, Steve Nash shot 50 percent for the Lakers from that range. He may not be a great shooter overall, but Rondo's mid-range game is getting better. He can shoot (a little), Jay!
