New York Rangers coach John Tortorella was fired last week after being bullied by the Boston Bruins in the second round of the NHL playoffs. Besides the beat down, the Rangers didn’t actually have too poor of a year. They made it to the playoffs for the third straight year and upset the higher-seeded Washington Capitals. But GM Glen Sather didn’t focus on liquid half of the cup.
Truth is, he isn’t the only one. Plenty of coaches and managers throughout sports history have been fired after (relatively) successful seasons.
