Last year, Everett Golson was the starting quarterback for Notre Dame. With 2,405 yards passing, 298 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns, Golson played a huge role in leading the Fighting Irish to a 12-1 record and a national championship game appearance. Going into this upcoming season, things looked promising. However, as of yesterday, Golson is no longer enrolled at the university.

Late last night, Notre Dame spokesman Dennis Brown confirmed the rumors of Golson's departure with the South Bend Tribune, claiming that “federal and school privacy laws preclude us from issuing any further comment at this time.” Reporter Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune is speculating that the No. 1 quarterback is no longer enrolled because of an academic violation.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see until more concrete information becomes available.
