Back in 1999, it took Tony Hawk 10 tries to land the first ever 900 in competition. This was well beyond the allotted limit of tries, but he still walked away with the gold medal in the "Best Trick" contest.

Today, 15-year-old Mitch Brusco one upped Hawk by completing the first 1080 ever made in competition at the X Games' MegaRamp. It took him far less tries, but he walked away with silver.

It's a bit of a downer he didn't get gold, but the kid made history at the end of the day.
