Gary Payton can officially add "Hall of Famer" to his résumé.

Earlier today, Payton and a handful of other former basketball players, coaches, and executives were informed that they will be part of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2013. The rest of the class includes former NBA All-Star Bernard King, former University of Houston coach Guy V. Lewis, Louisville coach Rick Pitino, former WNBA great Dawn Staley, legendary UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian, UNC women's coach Sylvia Hatchell, former Brazilian pro player Oscar Schmidt, former Knicks great Richie Guerin, and former NBA deputy commissioner Russ Granik.

"When I started playing basketball and got into the NBA, I just wanted to be a guy in the NBA doing something," Payton said at a ceremony for the announcement of the class. "But, even as my career went on and I got better, never still thought about being in the Hall of Fame. I'm still not thinking about it. I don't feel like I'm here now. It's like a dream."

Congratulations to The Glove and the rest of the class of 2013. They all deserve this honor.
