McLaren is Working on a Cheaper Sportscar to Steal Some Sales from Porsche

Yours dreams just got a little more attainable.

McLaren just unveiled the 903 hp P1 hypercar, but it's not a company known for laurel-resting, so a new car is already brewing. The new car will be what executive chairman Ron Dennis "entry level" for McLaren, meaning that it will come in at under $200,000 and be positioned against the Porsche 911 Turbo. The rationale is that there are plenty of $100,000 sportscars, and plenty of $200,000+ supercars, but little but the 911 Turbo in between. McLaren wants a piece of that pie.

This car is currently code-named P13, and McLaren is hoping to sell as many as 2,500 per year. Expect the P13 to show up in showrooms some time before 2016.
