The whole world is going electric, and that list now includes passenger planes.

European Helicopter manufacturer AgustaWestland has unveiled the world's first Electric Tilt-Rotor aircraft. The plane is called Project Zero and can take off like a helicopter and fly like an airplane.  Power comes from two integrated motors mounted in the wings.

A number of test flights have been successfully completed, though the company has not said whether a production version will be made.
