At first it seems really weird that a BMW would be built on a Toyota platform, but when one stops to think about it it's a brilliant move. The current BMW Z4 got a lukewarm reception from the press due to the excess of body roll and the sub-par chassis, which served to detract from the great design, fantastic engines, and other high performance equipment.

Putting all of that in one of the best sports chassis for sale right now makes tons of sense. In return for using the FR-S platform, BMW is helping develop the suspension and handling of Toyota's upcoming Supra revival.
