Avis Rental Car Company Purchasing Zipcar For Nearly $500 Million

Less and less people are actually taking the time to legitimately rent a car. Instead, they are "sharing" cars, a movement that has been lead by Zipcar, a service that allows you to use a car for any amount of time, rather than by the day. Now, popular rental car company Avis has purchased Zipcar, in an attempt to branch out into the growing service. The deal is reportedly worth $491.2 millionZipcar was started in 2000 and has tripled in size since 2008, growing to more than 760,000 members.
