NFL Reportedly Looking Into Banning All Blocks Below the Waist

Good or bad?

None

Peter King of Sports Illustrated is reporting that the National Football League has looked into placing a ban on all blocks below the waist. On Friday night, the league competition committee met to discuss the aforementioned block, but as Mr. King put it on Twitter, "I doubt sincerely it will pass. Head coaches/offensive coaches will go nuts over it. But I see two specific low blocks to be endangered now."

In what seems to be a response to a tweet sent out by Clay Matthews after a "legal" (depending on who you ask) chop ended the 2012-13 season of his former USC teammate and Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing. While we're all for making the league a safer place, the NFL is slowly transforming the game into something that's a little too cautious for such a supposed rough and tough contact sport. Would you agree with that assessment?
