Derrick Rose doesn't just play ball in Chicago. He's also from there, and he lives there year round. So, over the course of the last couple days, he's been keeping a close eye on the Chicago Public Schools teachers strike that's taking place right now. And, last night on Twitter, he let it be known that he is not happy with the way that the strike is being handled. Here's what he had to say:

Hope the CPS gets a deal done soon...we need our kids in school! #TheReturn
I'm sitting here just thinking how sad it is that my city got to go through this. I love my city and everyone in it even my haters!
I don't like that fact that OUR kids are not in school and that's the only thing we have to SAVE these kids.
I pray everyday for US for real. I know I shouldn't be saying this because I hoop and it's not my lane but I feel like ppl should hear this.
Chi town til I die!

D-Rose isn't a guy who usually says a whole lot about, well, anything. But, good for him for taking a stand on this issue. Will it help bring the strike to an end? Uh, no. But, it will make it a relevant issue for a whole lot of people out there who weren't paying attention to it before. Way to put on for your city, man.
