It was a horrifying scene yesterday in Oakland after A's pitcher Brandon McCarthy was nailed in the head by a line drive off the bat of Erick Aybar. Following the incident, McCarthy spent several minutes on the field while the team trainers checked on him. The Athletics starting pitcher was eventually able to walk off the field under his own power.
Later in the night, the Athletics' Twitter account updated fans saying McCarthy was "conscious and doing well."
