One Week Ago, Jon Jones Declared He Would Fight Chael Sonnen in a Heartbeat

Oops.

None

You know how they say "be careful what you say because it might just come back to haunt you." Well, Jon Jones is about to be living proof of that statement. As you may already know, Dan Henderson had to drop out of UFC 151 with an injury. After Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen on short notice, Dana White was forced to cancel the entire event. Now, this is where it gets interesting.

The hard-working folks at Bloody Elbow revealed a conversation last Saturday on “The Abe Kanan Show” where Jones discusses the possibility of fighting Sonnen in the future. While Bones did mention that Sonnen "couldn’t just talk his way into a title shot because the UFC isn’t like the WWF," the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion eventually let out this comment:

Kanan: “Why not just take the fight, do it, and make a lot of money?”

Um, yeah. Apparently, Jones wasn't telling the complete truth because when Dana White approached Bones with the opportunity to take a fight in a heartbeat, he gave a flat out "no." Hmm.
