Lakers Acquire Steve Nash for Four Draft Picks

Showtime just got a new pilot.

Well, the 2013 over-30 NBA championship is pretty much a wrap, huh? In a surprising move, the LA Lakers have acquired three-time league MVP Steve Nash in a sign-and-trade deal that will send four draft picks (1st rounders in 2013 and 2015 and 2nd rounders in 2013 and 2014) back to Phoenix. Nash had been pursued by the Mavericks, Knicks, and Raptors in this summer's free agency period, but was ultimately able to orchestrate a move to LA behind Kobe Bryant's lobbying and Nash's own wish to stay near his family in Phoenix. Nash joins Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Andrew Bynum to form a formidable, if aging, Big 4 in LA. The ultimate irony? That Lamar Odom for a trade exception deal that everybody laughed at the Lakers for making last summer? That's what made Nash to Tinseltown possible.
