The Bobcats made a trade last night—just not the trade a lot of people were expecting them to make. With less than 48 hours remaining until the 2012 NBA Draft, a lot of people out there are expecting Charlotte to trade their No. 2 pick in the draft for a slightly lower pick and an additional pick or two later in the draft. But, last night, they made a move that landed them a veteran player and a draft pick in 2013.

The Bobcats and Pistons came to an agreement that'll send Ben Gordon (and the $25.6 million that he still has left on his contract) and a 2013 protected first-round pick to Charlotte in exchange for Corey Maggette and his expiring contract. It's not the most exciting deal for either side, but it does give both teams something that they desperately need. For Detroit, it's cap space. And, for Charlotte, it's a legitimate shooter who can put up points.

All in all, a pretty nice deal. But, when is that other trade happening, Charlotte? Stay tuned…
