David Beckham helped bring the 2012 Summer Olympics to London. But, thanks to a shocking new development, he won't actually be a part of them.

Seven years after helping Sebastian Poe, the head of the London organizing committee, bring the Olympic Games to London, Becks just confirmed that he will not be playing for Britain in the Olympics because England's manager Stuart Pearce has decided to leave him off the roster.

"Everyone knows how much playing for my country has always meant to me," Beckham said earlier today in a statement delivered to the Associated Press, "so I would have been honored to have been part of this unique Team GB squad. Naturally, I am very disappointed, but there will be no bigger supporter of the team than me. And, like everyone, I will be hoping they can win the gold."

Classy response. Even if he's lost a step on the pitch, how do you leave that guy off the team?
