Since being drafted with the first pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, Greg Oden has gone through a lot. He's undergone three microfracture surgeries. He's battled a drinking problem. He's watched his cousin die from cancer six weeks after being diagnosed with it. He's had a naked picture of himself leaked to the Internet. He's even had the blind dog he owned for four years crawl out of a hotel balcony window and fall eight stories to its death (that shit sounds almost too crazy to believe!). And yet, we really haven't heard about any of it, because Oden is a super private person. But, he finally agreed to sit down with one of his old AAU teammates Mark Titus to do an interview for Grantland. And, it's one of the better reads we've come across lately.
Before you write dude off as a total NBA bust, give it a look. It might just change the way you think about Oden as both a player and a person.
