The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to officially confirm, but reports from CSNNE say that Rasheed Wallace is coming out of retirement to play on Kobe Bryant's squad. According to A. Sherrod Blakely, Wallace knows that he is not going to be a starter, and is willing to accept a new role off the bench.

"Think about it. Of the big men that are available, is there one that's really better?," the source said. "And if he's gotten himself in shape, adding him becomes a huge get for them."

Wallace has been out of the league since Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals after he and the Boston Celtics agreed to buy out his contract for $1 million. Two questions come out of this news: What can a washed-up veteran bring to an already struggling team, and what does this mean for the Pau Gasol trade rumors? We're guessing the only thing 'Sheed will add is accelerant to the rumor mill.
