For the first time in two team's 11-game history, Team USA came out victorious 1-0 over Italy in a leap-day international friendly. After a stagnant first half, Clint Dempsey scored a Jozy Altidore-assisted goal in the 55th minute. The historic win dates back to 1934 when the two first met. Italy had gone 7-0-3 in the period and outscored the Americans 32-4. This was also the first time that Italy lost in Genoa.
