1. Alfa Romeo 4c

Complex Says: The Lotus Elise, icon of lightweight performance that it is, may be getting fat and ugly under CEO Dany Bahar's leadership, but Alfa Romeo has stepped in to save the day. The 4C's chassis was designed by Dallara, the same company that made the insane KTM X-Bow, Bugatti Veyron, and IndyCars, which made extensive use of carbon fiber to keep the weight under 1,900 pounds. The first model to be released will feature an engine that puts out just over 200hp, but still manages to send the 4C to 60 mph in under five seconds. A 300hp version is in the pipeline.

Every auto enthusiast dreams of a lightweight, mid-engined sportscar with killer acceleration and a storied Italian badge. This is that car, but it won't cost $250,000 like the Ferraris and Lamborghinis to which it is otherwise so similar. Alfa Romeo is finally returning to America and it is are doing it with one of the most anticipated cars in years.
