Khloe Kardashian Talked Lamar Odom Out of Taking a Sabbatical From Basketball This Season

Before he got traded, he wanted to take the year off.

If it looks like Lamar Odom has been playing like he doesn't want to be on the court for the Mavericks so far this season, that's because, well, he probably doesn't. In fact, over the weekend Odom admitted that he was thisclose to asking the Lakers for a season-long sabbatical before he was dealt to Dallas just before the start of the season. Following the death of his 24-year-old cousin in July and a car accident that he got into just days later that resulted in the death of a pedestrian, Odom was seriously considering taking the year off. But then Khloe Kardashian convinced him to do otherwise.

"My wife talked me out of it," he said recently. "Cause I was asking myself: 'Was I mentally prepared to play? If I didn't play well, was I mentally prepared to help the team?' I had thought: 'Maybe I need a year off.' Because of the lockout, I thought, 'Maybe somebody's sending me a sign that I needed this time off.' [But] when I told some of my friends and family that I was thinking about steppin' back for a minute, I think the reaction from the closest people to me kind of gave me the energy to get back at it."

Say what you want about Khloe. But that is how you hold your man down. Now let's just hope she can inspire him to play a little better on the court moving forward. 'Cause from the looks of things right now, he needs a little inspiration.
