A 40-car accident on Thursday took the lives of two people and injured a total of 61. The massive crash took place on Interstate 10 in eastern New Orleans. Although it was confirmed that extremely low visibility was to blame, it was unclear whether dense fog or heavy smoke was the cause. It was the second time in two weeks that the interstate had been shut down after a hit-and-run on Dec. 17 also closed a nearby area for hours.
